ABC3D (Advanced BioCarbon 3D Ltd.) is pleased to announce that we have been awarded funds from Phase 2 of the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund. Specifically, this non-dilutive funding is going towards improving our recycling capabilities. Furthermore, it helps secure a supply chain of cheap and abundant post-consumer plastics.

ABC3D will treat this plastic so it can be reused multiple times in R&D and manufacturing applications. Consequently, the combination of local state-of-the-art manufacturing with reliable nearby supply chains will minimize greenhouse gases associated with transportation.

Supporting Circular Economies in Rural BC

“We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia and Alacrity Canada through the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy,” said Darrel Fry, CEO of ABC3D. “This investment will have a significant impact on all of us reaching our environmental targets. Moreover, it helps future-proof rural communities by giving them the ability to manufacture almost anything from these improved circular plastics.”

This investment is part of ABC3D’s $8M project. In fact, this initiative includes a consortium of industrial and academic partners in the plastics, manufacturing, and materials supply sectors. A team of over 32 researchers is working on this novel challenge. Ultimately, the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund investment is specifically going towards the expansion of ABC3D’s Test and Development Centre located in Trail, BC. This expansion allows us to scale operations significantly.

About the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund

The second intake of the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund supports new plastic waste reduction projects across the province. It promotes the development of a circular economy in B.C. The funding continues to support the recycling and remanufacturing of recycled plastics. Additionally, it expands the Fund scope to include businesses that support plastic waste reduction through reuse, refill, sharing, or repairing opportunities.

By partnering with the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund, ABC3D is committed to reducing waste and lowering emissions in the manufacturing sector.
