Advanced BioCarbon 3D Ltd. (ABC3D), we are pleased to announce that we have been awarded funds from phase 2 of the CleanBC Plastic Action Fund. This non-dilutive funding is going towards improving ABC3D’s recycling capabilities and securing the supply chain of cheap and abundant post-consumer plastics. ABC3D will treat this plastic so it can be reused multiple times in R&D and manufacturing applications. The combination of local state-of-art
manufacturing with reliable nearby supply chains will minimize greenhouse gasses associated with the transportation and processing of plastics in the region.
“We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia and Alacrity Canada through the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy especially in this current economic environment,” said the company’s CEO, Darrel Fry. “This investment will have a significant impact on all of us to reach our environmental targets while future-proofing rural communities by giving them the ability to manufacture almost anything from these improved circular plastics.”
This investment is part of ABC3D’s $8 M project which includes a consortium of industrial and academic partners in the plastics, manufacturing, and materials supply sectors. A team of over 32 researchers and a multi-million dollar network of prototyping and testing equipment are working on this exciting and novel challenge. Clean BC’s investment is specifically going towards the expansion of ABC3D’s Test and Development Centre located in Trail BC.

“The second intake of the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund will support new plastic waste reduction projects across the province promoting the development of a circular economy in B.C. The funding will continue to support recycling and remanufacturing of recycled plastics and will expand the Fund scope to include businesses that support plastic waste reduction through business models that support reuse, refill, sharing or repairing opportunities.”
