Elevate your projects with ABC3D’s high-performance carbon fiber nylon filament. By infusing micro-carbon fibers into a durable Nylon 66 (PA66) base, we’ve created a material that offers an incredible blend of strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability.

Unmatched Strength and Stiffness

Our proprietary formula results in a filament with remarkable stiffness, unrivaled impact resistance, and high tensile strength. Therefore, it’s the go-to choice for projects demanding the utmost durability, from functional prototypes to demanding end-use parts.

Engineered for Reliable Printing

One of the biggest challenges with standard nylon is warping. However, the carbon fiber in our PA66 blend provides superior stability and rigidity. This means you can expect smoother printing and fewer failed attempts. As a result, you get more accurate and reliable results every time.

Post-Processing Your Carbon Fiber Nylon Filament

Any parts made with our carbon fiber nylon filament can be heat-treated (annealed) to further improve physical properties. To anneal a printed part, simply heat it at 80–130°C for up to 30 minutes by either submerging it in hot water or baking it in an oven.

Handling and Drying Your Filament

Like all nylons, this filament must be kept dry! If left open, it will readily absorb moisture from the air, which can lead to poor print quality. For this reason, we always recommend drying your filament before use by baking it in an oven at 85°C for 4-6 hours.

Carbon Fiber Nylon Filament: FAQs

1. Is this filament abrasive?

Yes. The micro-carbon fibers are very abrasive. Consequently, this filament will destroy a standard brass nozzle very quickly. You must use a hardened steel, ruby-tipped, or other abrasive-resistant nozzle.

2. Do I need an enclosure to print this?

It is highly recommended. Because this is a Nylon 66 (PA66) base, it is prone to warping. An enclosure or heated chamber will maintain a stable ambient temperature, which is critical for good layer adhesion and preventing warpage on larger parts.

3. How is this different from your Nylon 12/CNT filament?

This filament is for **structural strength**. The carbon fibers add immense stiffness and rigidity. Our Nylon 12/CNT filament, on the other hand, is for **electrical conductivity**. You choose this PA66-CF for strong, rigid parts like brackets and drone frames. You choose PA12-CNT for ESD-safe jigs and enclosures.

4. Do I absolutely need to dry this filament?

Yes, 100%. Nylon 66 is one of the most hygroscopic materials. It will absorb moisture from the air in just a few hours. Therefore, you must dry it at 90°C for at least 4 hours immediately before printing. Printing damp nylon will result in bubbles, stringing, and extremely brittle parts.
